Got a quick news recap of Chivas USA for you. The season is winding to a close, so the news has started to slow down, especially with an international quasi-break taking place this week (many MLS teams have the weekend off, although some teams are playing through it). But let's get you caught up on what you may have missed.
First, a couple of stories regarding position switches on the field. Michael Umana has played the last couple of games as right back instead of center back, where he's played his whole career for Chivas. For what it's worth, Umana's looked better to me as a full back than a center back, but who knows if this is a temporary development or if he may have a permanent shift in his future. Adam Serrano talked to Umana about the switch Wednesday for the league website. Check it out here.
And here's another article from Serrano discussing the team's attitudes in the aftermath of their playoff elimination. The message: get up for the Galaxy game. Let's hope the Goats can do it.
For those of you interested in the expanded youth coverage at the club (like me!) here's the weekly roundup of the youth teams' matches.
The latest chapter in the very long saga of where Chivas may be relocating to in the future is predictably murky. As I noted last week, the decision by the city council of Santa Ana to approve negotiations with the club could be one-sided, as Chivas General Manager Jose Domene denied entering exclusive negotiations with Santa Ana. The Voice of OC, which has been reporting this developing story in recent weeks, discusses Domene's denials here.
The three Chivas' international call-ups, Ante Jazic, Michael Umana, and Alejandro Moreno, may all see some action for their respective countries in the coming days. We'll let you know if they got playing time and how they did.
