Another international break is nearly upon us. Although the MLS season is winding to a close, the international matches just keep coming. With the United States Men's National Team playing two upcoming friendlies in Europe, first against France on Armistice Day (or November 11 for you non-historians) and against Slovenia on November 15, the roster was announced today. No Chivas USA players were named to the squad, so I guess Heath Pearce will have to wait until next season at the earliest to get a look in by Jurgen Klinsmann.
Meanwhile, two Chivas' players who have been getting consistent call-ups the past few months, Ante Jazic and Alejandro Moreno, have been called up by Canada and Venezuela, respectively. Jazic has been playing regularly in Canada's 2014 World Cup Qualifiers this fall, and will play St. Kitts on the road on November 11 and in Toronto on November 15. If the Canadians get a point from those matches, they will advance to the third round in CONCACAF qualifiying. Although they can't take the Caribbean country lightly, they will have to like their chance of advancing. Congrats Ante!

And Moreno has been called up by Venezuela in their 2014 World Cup Qualifiers, against Colombia in Barranquilla (Shakira's hometown!) on November 7, and against Bolivia in San Cristobal on November 15. CONMEBOL's World Cup qualifying format is brutal considering the amount of competition in South America, but Venezuela has the best chance of making it in their history, even if it will still be an uphill battle. Moreno of course played for Venezuela in the Copa America this season and while he's not a fixture in the starting lineup, there seems to be a consistent policy of rotating the strikers in the lineup and Moreno is definitely in the rotation. Congrats to Ale!
