A quick piece of news to send your way today. There is currently a barnstorming tour of Rise and Shine: The Jay DeMerit Story and you, yes you, can go see it in a theater near you! Tonight! The film is, as you would expect, the "rags to riches" story of USMNT and Vancouver Whitecaps defender Jay DeMerit, who grew up in the middle of football country in Green Bay, Wisconsin and went to extraordinary lengths to fulfill his dream of playing professional soccer. The movie is truly independent, with a kickstarter campaign helping to get it the necessary financing to go on this tour. The film has no advertising budget, and the release is limited, to see if there will be enough demand to provide it a wider (and longer) release.
