HARRISON, NJ - MAY 23: Minda holds his ground for Chivas - let him do this at the 2012 MLS All-Star Game! (Photo by Mike Stobe/Getty Images for New York Red Bulls)
The 2012 MLS All-Star game will be held July 25 at PPL Park, the Philadelphia Union's stadium, against UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea. Ready to send some deserving MLS players to the event? Here's your chance, as fan voting will begin Friday morning at 9 am PDT here on the league site.
In case you are wondering, six Chivas USA players are up for the fan vote. Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, defender James Riley, midfielders Nick LaBrocca and Oswaldo Minda, and forwards Juan Pablo Angel and Alejandro Moreno are on the ballot. While this blog's editorial stance is to support Chivas' players at every turn, as fans, you have the power to support your team unrelentingly or vote for players around the league based on merit (of course, there are deserving Chivas players). In the end, it is up to you. But remember, if you want to see some All-Stars this year from Chivas, you will need to do your part and vote for them!
Of the six Goats, I would tip Kennedy and Minda as the most deserving, although Riley has also been very strong. LaBrocca, Moreno and JPA have been decent, but the other three have been truly outstanding.
One word of warning though: Union coach Peter Nowak will be coaching the All-Stars. No word on whether he will attempt to trade the All-Star team away for budgetary reasons.
