Chivas USA continued their trip to the Evergreen State Sunday with a match in the MLS Reserve League, their last of the year. Despite taking a lead, just like in the first team match Saturday, the Goats' reserves fell to the Seattle Sounders reserves 4-2 Sunday morning. The result means Chivas finishes MLS Reserve League play in 2012 with a 3-4-3 record.

The scoring began in the 22nd minute with a cross from Chivakiller Sammy Ochoa to "guest player" Eidur Gudjohnson, an Icelandic international who has played for Chelsea and Barcelona in his career and who is on trial for Seattle at the moment as they find a way to circumvent league rules in order to sign him. Chivas evened the score four minutes later on a goal from Jose Correa, off an assist from Paolo Cardozo. Chivas went ahead in the 60th minute, when Seattle defender Daniel Steres, who you may remember was drafted by Chivas in the 2012 Supplemental Draft but wasn't offered a contract by the Goats, scored an own goal.

Cordell Cato knotted the score up for the Sounders in the 62nd minute, and little-used midfielder Mike Seamon gave Seattle the lead in the 69th minute. The hosts added a fourth goal in the 90th minute from Seth C'deBaca, who wins the most creative last name award in this match.

Here was Chivas' starting lineup in today's match: Tim Melia, Ruben Rodriguez, Bobby Burling, Kevin Gallaugher, Jose Dheming, Marco Delgado, Rodrigo Lopez, Laurent Courtois, Cesar Romero, Paolo Cardozo, Jose Correa

Rodriguez has been playing in reserve games with Chivas for some time, and Lopez has bounced around all year, after trialing with Chivas earlier this season. Dheming is of course from the academy, and Gallaugher is a former defender at Cal State Dominguez Hills who now coaches for the South Bay Force club. No word on whether he is getting any kind of serious look or if he was there to help make up the numbers for the reserves.

The only substitute used by Chivas was Kennedy Chongo, who of course trialed with Chivas in the preseason. He replaced Romero in the 74th minute.

As ever, a reserve match doesn't mean a whole lot, and given Chivas' struggles with the first team lately, there's little need to really read into the final reserve match of the season. There may be unofficial reserve games to come, but there won't be any more opportunities for guys on the outside looking in to impress the coaching staff in the final weeks of the season against MLS opposition.
