Today, U.S. Soccer announced the roster for the annual January training camp for the Men's National Team, and Chivas USA was represented. Forward Juan Agudelo, fresh off his strong substitute performance in November against Russia, was selected to the camp, which will run January 7-29. Agudelo was the only Chivas USA player selected in the 25 man squad, composed of players from MLS and Scandinavia, as other leagues are currently in session. Congratulations to Juan!
Perhaps unsurprising, although still perplexing, is that Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy was not called up to the team. Instead, youngsters Bill Hamid and Sean Johnson and newcomer Tally Hall got the nod. Kennedy was the best American keeper in the league last season - what more must he do to get the selection? As it stands, he is still without a USMNT selection, and at this point, it is becoming ridiculous.
Here's the full roster:
Defenders: Steven Beitashour (San Jose Earthquakes), Tony Beltran (Real Salt Lake), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), A.J. DeLaGarza (LA Galaxy), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Connor Lade (New York Red Bulls), Alfredo Morales (Hertha Berlin), Justin Morrow (San Jose Earthquakes), Jeff Parke (Philadelphia Union)
Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (no club), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders), Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City), Josh Gatt (Molde), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)
