The competitive games may be over for Chivas USA in 2013, but the club announced Wednesday they will be playing a friendly against USL-PDL side FC Tucson at their brand-new stadium, North Stadium at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, on November 15.
FC Tucson began play in 2011 and joined the PDL in 2012. In their first season, they made the playoffs, but were not able to qualify this past season. The PDL regular season ended back in mid-July, so the team has evidently been on a pretty long hiatus. They have hosted MLS clubs during the preseason in recent years, however, and host the Desert Diamond Cup preseason tournament, so this game is presumably a chance for the organization to do a run-through at the new stadium and give the team a runout ahead of the activities resuming in the area in February.
For their part, in the press release on the friendly Chivas USA touted the talent on their team that will be heading to Arizona for the match, specifically name-checking Carlos Bocanegra, Oswaldo Minda and Erick Torres, so if they keep the full team together for the next two weeks or so to train, they look like they will be sending the full group to play in the game.
If you want to see the Goats one last time in person this year, tickets go on sale today at FC Tucson's website. The game is scheduled for 7 pm PT. It is unclear if this game will be streamed online or televised anywhere, although I would guess you'll have to see it in person if you want to witness it. Still, we'll let you know if we hear any details on that front.
