"Still I have pain in my head, in my face ... they will operate on Wednesday and the procedure will last more than four hours." --Steve Purdy
As we mentioned before,Steve Purdy will be undergoing facial reconstruction surgery (Spanish only) after being on the business end of Steven Lenhart elbow. The surgeon will repair damage to the defender's nose, left cheekbone and eye socket. Purdy will not be able to participate in any light workouts (example: jogging) for at least six weeks.
Lenhart is serving a one-game suspension for accumulating a second yellow card in last week's match. Many feel Lenhart should never have been in the position to receive a second yellow card. Steve Davis opines Lenhart's elbow deserved a straight red.
As it stands, Lenhart will face no additional punishment for his actions. If defies belief that reckless play, especially coming from one with the track record of Lenhart goes unchecked.
I might be wrong, but if it were a marquee player instead of Purdy ( ex. Clint Dempsey) Lenny would likely be out for the rest of the season. I might be wrong, but I don't think that I am.
