Chivas USA sign defender, New Zealand international Tony Lochhead

Lochhead is the newest Goat. - Morne de Klerk

Finally! Chivas have a full back.

Chivas USA announced Wednesday they have signed full back and New Zealand international Tony Lochhead. The left back, 32, is the first full back added to the roster this offseason, and appears to be a free transfer, as he has not been with a club since June.

Lochhead has experience playing in MLS, as he was drafted in 2005 out of UC Santa Barbara (where he was a teammate of Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy) and became a member of the New England Revolution from 2005-07, during that team's bright stretch when they won the Supporters Shield in 2005 and were MLS Cup runners-up from 2005-07. Lochhead departed early during the 2007 season, when he was signed by his "hometown" club, the Wellington Phoenix in the A-League.

He was a member of the Phoenix from 2007-13, and set that team's all-time appearances lead (he's since been eclipsed in that mark).

The defender also has represented New Zealand at senior level 43 times, most recently in the first leg of the All Whites' World Cup playoff against Mexico last fall. He also started all three of New Zealand's group stage matches at the 2010 World Cup, where the team went unbeaten.

We'll have more information on Lochhead and his game later today. For now, what do you think of the move? Leave a comment below!
