USMNT vs. South Korea preview, TV information

Matt Sullivan

Can the Americans start 2014 on the right foot?

The United States begin their road to the 2014 World Cup today with a friendly against South Korea at the LA Galaxy's stadium. The game takes place at 2 pm PT and will be televised on ESPN2 and UniMas.

It is the first match of the year for the U.S. Men's National Team, capping off the annual January training camp, featuring nearly all MLS players. While some of these players will surely be on the plane to Brazil and even in the starting lineup, others will hope to impress national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann prior to his selection of the group for the tournament.

For their part, South Korea, bringing a B team of their own on a three-game swing in the United States, are also making preparations for a World Cup campaign this summer. In the previous two games of this tour, they beat Costa Rica 1-0 last Saturday in a practically-empty LA Coliseum, but lost to Mexico 4-0 Wednesday in San Antonio. Will they be tired against the Americans? We won't know until the game, but it seems pretty likely.

Either way, it should be an interesting game!
