Poll: Was Agustin Pelletieri's red card justified?

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Put your ref hat on, and tell us what you think.

In the second week of MLS using "replacement officials" in light of the negotiating stalemate between the management, PRO, and the regular referees, the PSRA, controversial calls began cropping up. Among the most consequential was in Sunday's Chivas USA game, where midfielder Agustin Pelletieri was given a straight red card for a tackle on Pedro Morales in the 13th minute.

Was it fair? We're asking you in the poll to vote on your take.

I'll give my take, which may be in the minority. I think Pelletieri had no intent to injure Morales, and in the context of MLS officiating, the straight red appears to be harsh. That said, this is the type of foul that folks often look back and say, "That should have gotten a red card." I think it was a harsh call, but I can understand it.

Now, it's your turn!

Here's video of the incident, just to refresh your memory:

So, have your say in the poll and in the comment section below. Was it a justified call? Understandable, if harsh? Completely unreasonable? Let us know what you think!
